Dolores Melancon

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, on Monday, June 10, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Dolores Ann Trahan Melancon, 73, who passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Courtyard Manor Nurse Care Center & Assisted Living. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm on Sunday, and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 10:45 am. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Rev. Donald Pousson will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Chancie Gravouilla and Brandy Melancon and her grandchildren will serve as Gift Bearers. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Mrs. Melancon loved listening and dancing to Cajun French music. She enjoyed working in her yard, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by four sons, Randy Melancon and wife, Roxanne, of Lafayette, Travis Melancon and companion, Darlene, Willie Melancon and companion, Tracie, all of Arnaudville, and William Melancon and wife, Rhonda, of Sunset; one daughter, Merida Taylor and husband, Jude, of Texas; eight grandchildren, Blake, Blaine, Bryce, and Brandy Melancon, Chancie Gravouilla, Macy Melancon, and Mason and Landon Taylor; and three great grandchildren, Zoey and Cameron Melancon and Coby Palmer. She is preceded in death by her parents, William "Bill" and Alzina Breaux Trahan; her husband, Harris Melancon; and her brother, Earl Trahan. Pallbearers will be Travis, Willie, Blake, Blaine, and Bryce Melancon, and Jude Kidder. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy and William Melancon, Jude Taylor, and Lawrence Guidry. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
