Donald "Don" Brasseaux, Sr.

Breaux Bridge - A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 25, 2024, 12:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home for Donald "Don" Brasseaux, Sr., 81, who passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 AM on Friday.

Rev. Michael Richard will officiate the memorial service. 

Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery #2.

Donald was born on October 7, 1943, in Breaux Bridge. Throughout his life, Donald wore many hats with grace and integrity. As a welder and pipe fitter and on to pipeline inspection. Then later ventured to owner of Primitive Rustic Louisiana Furnishings, where he turned rustic yet sophisticated furniture and art from salvage material. His passion for outdoor activities was evident in his love for hunting, fishing, and sharing the joy of Cajun dancing lessons with people across the country.

In his later years, Donald found joy in his role as an award-winning breeder of Texas Pioneer Pigeons, a pursuit that brought him both fulfillment and recognition in the community. But above all else, he cherished his family. 

He is survived by his son, Donald "Donnie" (Rhona) Brasseaux, Jr.; daughter, Melissa Brasseaux; grandchildren, Tyler Brasseaux and Blake (Lindsey) Brasseaux; great-grandchildren, Everly Brasseaux, Ira Brasseaux, Scout Brasseaux and Avery Brasseaux; sister, Liz (Eddy) LeBlanc; and the mother of his children, Audrey Ann Doggett.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Birdie Trahan Brasseaux; brothers, Lenny, Lolly and Steven Brasseaux; and his sister, Geraldine Guidry.
