Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 PM Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, in Coteau for Donald James Dore', 57, who died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 in Nassau Bay, Texas.
Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.
Fr. J. Wilson Matt will be the Celebrant.
A native of New Iberia, LA, Donald is a retired cross country truck driver, and had worked in the auto business for 16 years in the Houston area. He served in the National Guard and was an avid hunter and NASCAR fan. He was the founder of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Donald was devoted to his family.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Helen Gail Upton Dore of Alvin, Texas; son, Shane Dore and wife Angie of Alvin; daughter, Sheryre Mathews and husband Barry of Sheridan, Texas; mother-in-law, Helen Upton of Alvin; brothers, Wayne Dore and wife Ruby of Coteau, Mark Dore and wife Susan of New Iberia, Kevin Dore and wife Lynette of Lafayette; sister, Lisa Trahan and husband Marty of Avery Island; grandchildren, Hunter Mathews, Tyler Mathews, Kinsey Mathews, Trace Mathews, Ethan Dore, and Connor Dore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman "Man" Dore and Lucy Sue Broussard Dore; a brother, Craig Dore.
Pallbearers will be Mark Dore, Kevin Dore, Marty Trahan, Raymond Dore, Chad Matheny, and Barry Mathews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Dore, Mack Byrd, Joe Olivas, Mark Blevins, Jason Pitts, and Britt Davis.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Saturday. Visitation will continue Sunday from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
