West Plains, MO - Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Sweaton Pond Cemetery in Dora, MO with a Military Service for Donald Ray Hammon, 76, who died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at at St. Martinville Nursing and Rehab Center in st. Martinville. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2006 at Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.. ?Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Carter Funeral Home ?in West Plains, MO from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Mr. Hammon served in the United States Navy for twenty years. ?He retired with the ranking of Chief Boatswain?s Mate. ?Upon retirement from the Navy, he was employed by Tidewater Marine for 25 years as a boat captain. He loved to fish, hunt, work in his garden and play cards. He is survived by one brother, John Thomas Hammon, Jr. of Poplar Bluff, MO, and two sisters, Evelyn Gillespie of Puxico, MO and Inis Olczak of St. Louis, MO. ? He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Wanda Thornton, and her husband, Ronny and their children, Brandon, Elizabeth and Natalie of Missouri; and his stepson, Billy Tanner of Texas. ?He is also survived by his nephews, Patrick Hammon and his children, Brycen, Amanda, and Melanie; and Bryan Hammon and his wife, Tricia all of St. Martinville; and Gaylon Overton of Houston, Texas, and numerous other nieces and nephews. Hewas preceded in death by his wife, the former Wilma Pease; his parents, John Thomas Hammon, Sr. and Clara Gobble Hammon; four brothers, Norville, Noyl, Bryce and Aubrey; and two sisters, Myrl Hammon and Sylvia Overton. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mr. Don's caregiver, Jennifer Lasseigne and Marguerite ""Tit-Tit"" Albert for their dedication and overwhelming compassion. In lieu on flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Acadiana, 128 Demande Boulevard, Suite 109 Lafayette, La 70503. ? Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
