Donald L. Babineaux

New Iberia - A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, for Donald Louis Babineaux, 79, who passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Rev. Garrett Savoie will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be on Thursday, from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Babineaux was born on July 8, 1943 to the late Dalton and Mabel David Babineaux, Sr. He worked as an accountant and was the organist at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Nicholas, in Lydia, for many years. Mr. Babineaux enjoyed cutting grass, dancing, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Sandridge Babineaux; son, Charles "Andy" Babineaux (Jill Guillotte); grandchildren, Coty Michael Romero (Priscilla), MacKenzi Lee Babineaux, Rylee Elizabeth Babineaux and Destyn Melancon; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Cohen, Camden, and Colin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William "Will" Babineaux; his brother, Dalton L. "Su Su" Babineaux, Jr.; father and mother-in-law, William and Evelyn Sandridge; nieces, Renee O'Brien and Nicole Babineaux; and a nephew, Gerald McClue.

The family would like to give special thanks to Michael and Julie Landry, Russell Sandridge, Kathy Sandridge, and the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, especially Vanessa Leopold, RN.
