Donald "Dut" Sanders

New Iberia - It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Alcide Sanders (also known by his friends as "Dut" and "Don") announces his passing on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at the age of 91. Funeral Services in memory of Donald will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Highland Baptist Church, 607 Victory Dr., New Iberia, LA 70563. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm on Friday. Rev. David Denton will be the Officiant. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette, with military honors by the Iberia Honor Guard. Donald was born in Jeanerette, LA on May 16, 1927. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy in Guam during WWII, and retired as a Wireline Operator with Cardinal Wireline. In his spare time, Don enjoyed painting, ball games at Highland Baptist Church, shooting his cannon at events, and going to Starbucks. Donald will forever be remembered by his children, Beth (Steve) Hendrix of Creedmoor, NC, Jennifer (David) Blair of New Iberia, Nancy (Marc) White of St. Martinville, Stacey Dorsey of Carterville, IL, Don Sanders of Katy, TX, and Jon (Colleen) Sanders of Watson; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Moity Sanders; a son, Dr. Craig Sanders; and his siblings. Pallbearers will be Jared Blair, Aaron Blair, Dylan Blair, Barrett White, Lance Hendrix, Chris Sanders, and Noah Sanders. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Baptist Christian School Athletic Dept.
