Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel, for Donavon Lee Gross, 67, who passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in Lafayette.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will conduct the funeral service.
Donavon was a musician, winning the Entertainer of the Year in 1977. He sang and played guitar and could be seen entertaining friends at the Driftwood and Checkmate Lounges. A man of many talents and a "Jack of all trades", he enjoyed woodworking and working on cars; in fact, it was his dream to refurbish an antique car. Donavon was married to the love of his life, Madlyn, for 30 years. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to all. He will be sadly missed by everyone whose life he may have touched during his lifetime.
Survivors include his beautiful and loving wife, Madlyn Trosclair Gross, of Alexandria; one son, John Darrell Gross, of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Elizabeth Latz, of Chenneyville, and Barbara Owens, of Cove, AR; and two grandchildren, Austin and Carson Gross, of Virginia Beach, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Drake Gross and Mary Elizabeth M. Gross; and a brother, Ernest Wayne Gross.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10 a.m. on Tuesday and continue until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Brad Comeaux, James Latz, Wayne Berard, Rusty Berard, John Trosclair, and Barry Trosclair.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
