Cecilia - Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Donovan James Green, 22, who died on Monday, April 27, 2009.
Interment followed at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, in Cecilia.
Born in Lafayette on October 31, 1986, from the union of Denard George Green and Linda Gail Duplechain Green, Donovan lived most of his life in Church Point, where he graduated from Church Point High School. Donovan moved to New Orleans to attend school at Delgado Community College where he was a freshman working towards a degree in Electronics. He was a proud employee of Winn-Dixie Supermarket in the seafood department. Donovan, as he was often called "Dude," enjoyed playing pool, hanging out with his friends and family, especially his younger brother, Christopher and listening to music. It was common to hear him say, "It's all good!" We know that he is "All Good" since he is now living with the Lord.
Donovan is survived by his loving parents, Denard and Linda Green, both now residing in Church Point and his younger brother, Christopher Michael Green, who serves in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Campbell, KY.
He also leaves to mourn his paternal grandmother, Margaret Savoie Green of New Orleans and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Duplechain of Church Point. His loss is strongly felt by his godmother, Catina Green Peoples, Uncle William Eugene Peoples, and his two cousins, Jade and Little William Peoples, whom he lived with in New Orleans. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and the most loyal friends.
His paternal grandfather, George Arthur Green, preceded him in death five months ago.
Pallbearers were Christopher Green, Lorenzo Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Joseph Savoie, Christopher Savoie, and Yolanski Savoie.
Honorary pallbearers were Mark Green, William Peoples, Barry Green, Anthony Duplechain, and Denard Green.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
