New Iberia – A graveside service will be held at 11:30am on Friday, October 18, 2024, at St. Peter’s Cemetery for Lynn Derenthal, 74, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
Doralene H. “Lynn” Derenthal was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on August 8, 1950, to the late Eraste Joseph Hebert and Stella Theresa Bonin Hebert. She dedicated her life to serving others through her work at Acadian Superette, where she was self-employed and became a cherished presence for many who frequented her store. Lynn’s warm smile and kind-hearted nature made her not just a businesswoman, but a friend to all who knew her. She took great pride in her work and created a welcoming atmosphere that will be fondly remembered by her customers and employees alike.
Lynn found joy in the simple pleasures that life offered. She was an avid bowler, often seen with her friends at the local lanes, sharing laughter and friendly competition. Her love for walking allowed her to appreciate the beauty of her surroundings while staying active and healthy. Above all, Lynn cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, creating a wealth of memories that they will carry in their hearts forever.
Lynn is survived by her children, Carla McLeod and husband, Olen McLeod, Sr., and Warren Ellender, Jr. and wife, Dana Ellender; grandchildren, Olen McLeod, Jr. and wife Anastacia McLeod, Gage McLeod, Ariel McLeod, Duncan McLeod, and Kennedy Ellender; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn McLeod, Rodney Bo LeBlanc, Kiley LeBlanc, Asa McLeod, and Kaiden McLeod; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Horace Myers, Patsy Hebert, and Jason Hebert.
Pallbearers will be Warren Ellender, Jr., Olen McLeod, Jr., Gage McLeod, Duncan McLeod, Dana Guilbeau, and Scott Guilbeau.
Honorary pallbearers are Cory Guilbeau and Troy Myers.
As we remember Lynn, we celebrate her spirit, her dedication to her work, and her unconditional love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
