Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm, on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Doris Danos Buckalew, 84, who passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:30 until 10:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 8:00 am until 1:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm on Wednesday.
Br. Brian Webre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Brenda Caillier and Denise Dugas Guillory. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Doris had previously worked at Farmers-Merchants Bank and was an Avon Representative for 23 years. She was a member of the Ladies American Legion Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was an adorer in the St. Bernard Chapel of Perpetual Adoration for 23 years, offering daily devotions for those in need. Doris was family oriented and was the matriarch of her family. She was loved by everyone she came in contact with.
She is survived by her daughters, Arlene LeBlanc and husband, Rex, Mary Belinda Clute, Magda Morck, and Rebecca Frederick and husband, Todd; her sister, Patricia Dufrene and husband, Curtis; ten grandchildren, Jessica and Tony Barattini, Rachael and Chad Bailey, Angela LeBlanc, Dustin Clute, Darrel and Rachel Clute, Natalie, Victoria, and Candace Morck, and Amber and Jarred Frederick; and seven great grandchildren, Nicole Barattini, Sarah Barattini, Mila Bailey, Ayden Clute, Levi Clute, Liam Clute and David Clute.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Foy Darrell Buck Buckalew; her parents, Paul Danos, Sr. and Magda Melancon Danos; her sisters, Laura Dauphinet and husband, Joe, Aline Thibodeaux and husband, Morris, Irene Begnaud and husband, Joe, Inez Danos, Barbara Dugas and husband, Jake; her brother, Paul Danos, Jr. and wife Genevieve; and her son-in-law, Chris Morck.
Pallbearers will be Darrel Clute, Dustin Clute, Rex LeBlanc, Todd Frederick, Chad Bailey, and Ricky Begnaud.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Drs. Glenn Mire, Lanie Moncada, Gus Ingraldi, and Warren Degatur, all of her wonderful nurses, the staff of River Oaks Retirement Manor, and to Hospice of Acadiana, for the compassionate care and attention given to her during her time of need.
