Doris Joseph Decoux

Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Sunday, December 24, 2006, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Doris Joseph Decoux, 83, who died Thursday, December 21, 2006 at his residence in Coteau. Interment will follow at the church cemetery Rev. Barry Crochet, will be the celebrant. A native of Erath, Doris is the son of the late Cyriac and Laura Menard Decoux. As a veteran of the U.S. Army, Doris proudly served our country during World War II. He retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development after 27 years service. Belonging on the committee of Council on Aging, Doris enjoyed his reign as King in 2004. He also was a member of the American Legion and a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and most of all he loved spending time with his family. ?He was a self-taught accordion player who enjoyed Cajun dancing. ?He used his mechanical skills and God-given talents to serve family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Laura Faye Romero Decoux; sons, Mark Kendall Decoux and wife Sandy, Brian Anthony ""Tony"" Decoux and wife Betsy, both of Coteau; daughters, Sally Gary and husband Frank of Breaux Bridge, Cheryl Doucet and husband Harold, Mona Pomier and husband Donald, Cathy Pomier and husband Will, all of Coteau; brothers, Eugene Decoux, Nelson Decoux, both of Coteau, and Lawrence Decoux of Erath; sister, Mrs. Louise (Anite) Viator of Delcambre; grandchildren, Jody Gary, Jill Pratt, Tiffany Romero, Tyler Gary, Jared Doucet, Christopher Doucet, Jennifer Doucet, Brent Doucet, Matthew Pomier, Russell Decoux, Erika Decoux, Ashley Decoux and Amanda Decoux; great grandchildren, Justin Bailey, Amber Pratt, Andrew Gary, Brennan Pratt, Mallory Decoux and Reese Decoux. In addition to his parents, Doris was preceded in death by his sisters, Mrs. Lee (Lelia) Mouton and Mrs. Maurice (Aline) Mouton; brothers, C. D. Decoux, Sydney Decoux, Ollie Decoux, Robert Decoux, Dennis Decoux and Marshall Decoux. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., on Saturday, December 23, 2006 and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Sunday until time of service. A blessing will be recited at 6:00 p.m. with a rosary following at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2006. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be his sons Mark and Tony; and his four sons-in-law, Frank, Harold, Donald and Will.
