New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Doris Duhon Edler, 82, who passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, in New Iberia. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Edler was born on July 20, 1933 to Phillip and Viola Landry Duhon. She was a long term senior volunteer at the St. Francis Diner and was recognized and presented certificates for 6 consecutive years by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of the United States of America for her significant service to our community. Doris also received the U.S. Mayors End Hunger Award, and was involved in the Proclamation for World Food Day by Mayor Cliff Aucoin. She was a member of the Senior Citizen Bowling League and her hobbies included sewing, cooking, gardening, and crafts. Survivors include her children, Julie Armentor and husband Dave of Loreauville, Henny Mahoney and husband Carey of New Iberia, and Robert Edler, Jr. and wife Renee' of Abbeville; grandchildren, Jennifer Armentor Coleman and husband Ryan, David Armentor and wife Rachel, Sean Mahoney and wife Jeanne, Robbie Edler and fiance' Kylie Suire, Brenna Mahoney Larson and husband Boone, Dacie Mahoney and fiance' Clint Larson, Makenzie Mahoney, Lauren Edler Paxton and husband Shane, Annalisa "Rosie" Edler; great-grandchildren, Ryan Patrick Coleman, Adele Armentor, Isabella Marie Mahoney, Liliana Frohock, Kati Frohock, Flynn Boone Larson, Avery Charles Larson, Wesley Turner, and Sawyer Paxton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph Edler, Sr.; brothers, Houston Duhon, Lincoln Duhon, Horace "Shorty" Duhon; sisters, Margie Guidry, Mable Lennie, Delores Seneca, Elizabeth Leleux, and Rosemary Lennie. Pallbearers will be David Joseph Armentor, Sean Carey Mahoney, Robert Joseph Edler III, Shane Derouen, Gilcey Paul Theriot, and Ryan Coleman. Honorary pallbearers include David Roy Armentor, Vanice "Boo" Guidry, Doug Guidry, Tan Dugas, Lennis Guidry, Jim Lanclos, Boone Fenris Larson, and Carey Mahoney.
