St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Doris Guidry Tabor, 81, who passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Maison du Monde in Abbeville.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 9:30 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Friday.
Fr. Michael Champagne will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Matthew Bishop and Merza Smith. Gift bearers will be Heather Bishop and Danette Tabor.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Doris was employed with Foti Grocery and Bienvenu Brothers years ago. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church and Lafayette Athletic Association for the Deaf. Doris enjoyed reading, crocheting, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, Elvist Tabor, Jr. and wife Cindi; daughters, Monica Ferrara and husband Mark, Angela Racca and husband Buddy, Karen Vice and husband Lonnie Vice, Sr., and Melissa Bishop and husband Robby; brothers, Harold Guidry and wife Lu, and Alcide Guidry and wife April; sister, Agnes Reaux and husband Stanley; 9 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvist Tabor, Sr; and parents, Cyrus and Clelie Frederick Guidry.
Pallbearers will be Eric Vice, Scott Tabor, Lonnie Vice, Jr., Jordan Racca, Dylan Vice, Jared Racca, and Matthew Bishop.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Maison Du Monde Nursing Home, Hospice of Acadiana and also, to their cousin, Merza Smith for the love and compassion given to Doris.
