St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Dorothy May Michel Batiste, 74, who passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 204 Gary Drive, St. Martinville, LA 70582. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Stanley Jawa will officiate at the Funeral Service. Scriptures will be read by LaKeya Batiste, Lakaysha Batiste, and Paulette Gerard. Gift Bearers will be Alaesha Batiste, Jasmine Batiste, and Demika Anthony. Dorothy loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, sewing, playing cards, and cooking for her family. She was a member of the Good Will Mutual Aid Association and the St. John Society. She is survived by husband, Albert Batiste of St. Martinville; her daughters, Lisa (Clifford) Anthony, Christine Batiste, and Debra Anthony, all of St. Martinville; her sons, Joseph (Sherita) Batiste, Sr., David (Olina) Batiste, Sr., and Stephen (Monica) Batiste, all of St. Martinville; her brother, Walter Michel, Jr. of St. Martinville; her sisters, Goldie Mae Durand and Agnes (Paul ) Gerard, both of St. Martinville; 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and one on-the-way. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Alberta Batiste; her parents, Agnes Jones Michel and Walter Michel, Sr.; her brothers, Sidney Michel and Paul Michel; and her sister, Mary Ann Price. Pallbearers will be Willie Batiste, Paul Batiste, Walter Anthony, Clifford Anthony Jr., Ray Allen Michel, Sr., David Batiste, Jr., Quinton Batiste, and Shantley Batiste. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbert Durand, Randy Jacob, Jr., Timmy Mitchell, Sr., Nathaniel Batiste, Ronald Batiste, Roydell Batiste, Clifford Anthony, Sr., Alton Batiste, Lance Batiste, Joseph Durand, Travis Benjamin, Jermaine Batiste, Robert Price, and Carlos Batiste.
