NewIberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Dorothy Reed Brady, 85, who passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Heart Hospital in Lafayette.
Father Michael Arnaud will officiate at the funeral Mass. Entombment will follow at Nativity of Our Lady Church Mausoleum.
Mrs. Brady was a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was a former Pink Lady at Dauterive Hospital and a former board member of the Sugar Cane Festival Association. Dorothy was an avid fan of the L.S.U. Fighting Tigers and looked forward to each and every football season.
Survivors include her son, David Brady of New Iberia; three daughters, Cyndi Duck and her husband, Mark, Mary Beth Brady, all of New Iberia, and Jody Borne and her husband, John, Jr., of Houma; two brothers, D.C. Reed, Jr. of Oberlin, and Ray Reed of Long Beach, MS; one sister, JoAnn Landry of Westlake; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Duck, Allyson Duck, Christopher Duck, Benjamin Duck, Matthew Brady and his wife, Erin, Tyler Brady, and John Borne, III; and one great grandchild, Jackson Brady.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Brady; her parents, Deius and Laura Reeves Reed; two brothers, Andrew Reed and Russell Reed, Sr.; her sister, Edith Sonnier; and her daughter-in-law, Josi Brady.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., in New Iberia. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday at 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Duck, Benjamin Duck, Matthew Brady, Tyler Brady, John Borne, III, and Rusty Reed.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jackson Brady.
