Dorothy was a self-taught chef and owner Laura's Café on Voorhies Street in Lafayette; working side-by-side with her dear mother-in-law, Laura Broussard for many years. Dorothy was a graduate of Carver High School Class of 1964, who remained very close with her classmates and enjoyed getting together with them. Family meant everything to her. Dorothy loved talking about and fussing with her two kids, Madonna and Roderick, who were also her pride and joy. She loved to ride to the store with her future daughter-in-law, Carolyn, every chance that she could. She was either shopping with her sisters, drinking coffee with her brother, calling to make sure her children were doing okay, visiting with her Charles Street neighbors in Parks, or loving on her grand babies. Dorothy will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Roderick Broussard and fiancée, Carolyn Zenon; daughter, Madonna Broussard and husband Olies "Pop"; sisters, Anna Cormier and husband Ludger, Josephine Cormier and husband Wilray, Bernadette Jeanminette, and Melinda Huger and husband Michael; brother, Paul Phillips and wife Melanie; grandchildren, Lacey Broussard, Olies Broussard, Gabrielle Broussard, Christian Broussard, Christopher Broussard, Christina Broussard, Collin Broussard, and Ransome Broussard; and great grandchildren, Kaylee Broussard, Baylee Broussard, Ryder Broussard, and Ian Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Malena Ebow Phillips; and her sister, Shirley Phillips.
