Dorothy "Jean" Delhomme Castille

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Dorothy "Jean" Delhomme Castille, 89, who passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm on Wednesday. A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 pm on Wednesday. Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass with Fr. Blake Dubroc concelebrating. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and a beloved and dear friend to many. She married the love of her life, Carlton “Kit” on December 11, 1949, and from that day forward they raised a beautiful family of eight children and were blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren to follow. Jean was a wonderful cook and cherished times spent with her family, especially during the holidays. A devout Catholic, whose faith was unwavering, Jean exemplified Christian values and she instilled those same values in her children. She was lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and was actively involved in her church parish, as a member of the Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, Parish Council, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, and served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and a Religion teacher for Catechism. Jean and Kit were also instrumental in helping to organize the opening of St. Bernard Chapel of Perpetual Adoration, which was completed in 1981. They remained faithful adorers there for many years. In 1978 Jean joined the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites Community of Mary Mother of Grace in Lafayette, located at the Discalced Carmelite Monastery. She was clothed with Scapular and formally professed Final Promise on July 16, 1978, on the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, taking the devotional name of the Sacred Heart. After seven years, she made her profession of religious vows on May 18, 1986. A beloved member, Jean was always delighted to introduce new members to the love she had for Carmel and her Carmelite community. She is survived by her son, Lee (Tee) Castille; five daughters, Bonnie Landry, Teddy (Gill) Frederick, Mina (Steve) Dekle, Christine (Todd) Angelle, and Jeannie (Chester) Begnaud, all of Breaux Bridge; two daughters-in-law, Sandra (Bob) Scott and Tonie Castille; 21 grandchildren; Jon Paul Landry, Mary Carle, Sanders Castille, Sadie Bracken, Mamie Credeur, Ross Frederick, Dottie Perry, Rebecca Gauthier, Kate Gary, Kells Castille, Maggie Buller, Shae Castille, Callen Castille, Maura Castille, Alex Angelle, Adam Angelle, Olivia Wray, Caroline Angelle, Noah Picard, Nick Picard, Paul Begnaud; 23 great grandchildren, Raymie Landry, Addie Joy Landry, Kendall Carle, Sullivan Carle, Gabe Castille, Ellie Castille, Lila Bracken, Isaac Bracken, Audrey Credeur, Henry Credeur, Wesley Credeur, Emma Grace Perry, Isabelle Perry, Savannah Gauthier, Sebastian Gauthier, Ella Gary, Sloane Castille, Quinn Poche, Fiona Poche, Bridgett Castille, London Castille, Adelyn Castille, Sophia Delcambre, Rena Clare Wray, and Beckham Wray; sister, Betty (James) Delhomme Hamilton; and her brother, Jerry (Marcia)Delhomme. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carlton "Kit" Moise Castille; two sons, Rocky Castille and Shane Castille; parents, Sanders Joseph and Rena Landry Delhomme; brother, Paul Delhomme; and her sister, Irene Delhomme Morrogh. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Jon Paul Landry, Adam Angelle, Shae Castille, Sanders Castille, Noah Picard, Ross Frederick, Nicholas Picard, Alex Angelle, and Paul Begnaud. Jean's family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to her caregivers, Rita and Blanche, for the wonderful care given to her during her time of need.
