New Iberia - Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, May 11, 2015, at Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia in New Iberia, for Dorothy Dempsey, 81, who passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at her residence.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:30 am until 11:00 am on Monday.
Rev. Mark Derise will officiate at the Funeral Service.
Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette.
Mrs. Dorothy was in the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. She was a member of the all female organization of the Air Force known as the "Wasp". Mrs. Dorothy was the Co-Founder of National Welding Supply Co, Inc., and she enjoyed doing ceramic work during her free time.
She is survived by her three sons, Michael Dempsey and wife Pamela of New Iberia, LA, Stephen Dempsey and wife Aleta of Houma, LA, Glenn Dempsey of Seattle, WA; brother, Don Polak of Fargo, ND; several grandchildren; great-grandson, Landon Lee Dempsey; great-granddaughter, Alexa Dempsey.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Thomas Polak; husband, Oscar Lee Dempsey; two sons, Brian Lee Dempsey and Christopher Dempsey; brother, Darren Polak; two grandchildren, Jay Thomas Dempsey and William Lee Dempsey.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Dempsey, Jason Dempsey, Joel Dempsey, Michael Dempsey, Stephen Dempsey, and Thomas Dempsey.
