Joan was a devout Catholic, a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for 52-years. She loved being with all of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters Brielle and Bryleigh. They would color, bake cookies, build Lego houses, and anything that “Gran Joan” could do with them. Many hugs, kisses, and laughs were shared during those times.
Now, when it came to having fun…she was always ready for a par-tay!! Joan was frequently seated at the head of a table enjoying a glass of wine with her family and friends, sporting a Fedora hat from her collection of many, wearing her jewels and definitely lipstick. Everyone knows that she lived her life with the mindset that “On a bad day, there is always Lipstick”!!
Having been diagnosed with MS 47-years ago, she NEVER let that change the happy and strong will to live life to the fullest. Mardi Gras season was one of her favorite times. She loved to attend the parades and without a doubt she would be front and center waving her arms in the air and shouting “throw me something Mister”!!!!
She recently commented to her family that she has been blessed and has had a “great life”. For those that have witnessed the smile that she wore and the love that was felt being with her…you can agree that WE were the blessed ones!
Joan is survived by her children, Lenny Paul (Sharon Danos) Brasseaux, Jr. and Sharon Brasseaux (William) Perry all of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Brad (Ariel Hoffpauir) LeBlanc of Loreauville, Jeremy (Hallie Courville) Brasseaux, Evan Perry, Jeanette Perry, and Jonathan Wisser all of Breaux Bridge; great-grandchildren, Brielle and Bryleigh LeBlanc, and Sebastien Webster; brother, Robert Bright and spouse Marilyn of Raleigh, NC; brother-in-law, Donald Brasseaux, Sr; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Eddy) LeBlanc of Breaux Bridge and Charlene Bright of Lafayette; a host of nieces and nephews; loving friends JoNell Darby and Marella Breaux of Breaux Bridge.
