New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Dorothy Broussard Lopez, 85, who passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017, in Lafayette. Interment will follow in the St. Edwards Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home. A native of Carencro and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Lopez was born on June 28, 1931 to the late Issac and Emerite Brown Broussard. She worked as a License Practical Nurse at Iberia Medical Center, Consolata Nursing Home, Heritage Manor Nursing and Azalea Villa Nursing Home. Mrs. Lopez enjoyed the Field Ministry, reading her Bible, teaching Bible Study, and attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Survivors include her husband. John Roland Lopez of New Iberia; children, Glenda Lopez Bruner and spouse Phil of Calabasas, CA, John Roland Lopez, Jr. of New Iberia, Wanda Lopez Washington of Midlothian, VA, Michael Lopez and spouse Vonda of New Iberia, Lesa Lopez Hector of New Iberia, Steve Lopez and spouse Linda of Youngsville, Dana Lopez, Sr. of New Iberia, Dwight Williams of Houston, TX; sisters, Eva Mouton of New Iberia, Catherine Huggins of Riverside, CA, a host of spiritual brothers and sisters; 22 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Gerald Bernard, and David "Job" Bernard; and sisters, Maynard Broussard, Edolia Collins, and Mary Broussard. Pallbearers will be Lyle Gilbert, Bart Boyer, Charles Delahoussaye, Steven Lopez Jr., Ryan Merideth, and Danny Aucoin.
