Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, October 1, 2018, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Dorothy Mae Williams Valere, 76, who passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10 am on Monday.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 am on Monday.
Rev. Ugochukwu Jerome Cletus, SSJ will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Crystal Ledet and Nicholas Adair. Gift bearers will be Janya Williams and Makayla Adair.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Mrs. Valere enjoyed going to the casino and playing cards. She cherished moments at cookouts with family and friends. Mrs. Valere will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Paul Williams and wife Barbara, Milera Williams and wife Barbara, and Herbert Williams and wife Sarah; daughter, Shirley Rowan and husband Louis; brothers, Harold Williams and wife Theresa, Andrew Williams and wife Lou, and Jeffery Williams; sisters, Dalta Watts and husband Rico, Doris Ledet, and Doretha Batiste and husband Alton; Godchild, Stella Alexander of Breaux Bridge; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Chester Valere; parents, Harry and Eva Ledet Williams; sister, Mable Victor; and nieces, Sarah Victor and Eva Walker.
Pallbearers will be Byron Williams, Brandon Watts, McKinley Demouchet, Sabastion Charles, David Seiber, and Kevin Batiste.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Williams, Milera Williams, Herbert Williams, John Williams, Louis Rowan, Alvin Louis, Marcus Celestine, Mike Ledet, Harold Williams, Rico Watts, Andrew Williams, Jeffery Williams, Jessie Daniels, Ricky Gary, Albert Menard, McKinley Demouchet Sr., and Boyd Victor.
A repass will be held following funeral services at St. Francis of Assisi Church Hall.
