VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, April 16, 2010 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia for Dorothy Trappey Rice, 89 who died Monday, April 12, 2010 in Lafayette. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Steve LeBlanc will be the Celebrant. Bill Weatherford and Chris Chustz will proclaim the readings. Gift Bearers include Julie Brown, Christie Tassin, and Travis Chustz. Born October 25, 1920, Mrs. Rice was a retired secretary having worked for the Iberia Parish School Board, and the Iberia Golf and Country Club. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, baking, making pottery, and traveling. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Rice Weatherford and husband George of Lafayette, Susan Rice Chustz and husband Al of Lafayette; brother, George J. Trappey, Jr. of New Iberia; grandchildren, Bill Weatherford, Julie Brown, Christie R. Tassin and husband Randy, Chris Chustz and wife Angelle, Travis Chustz; great grandchildren, Hunter Brown, Jacob Brown, Madeline Tassin, Gabriel Chustz, Bella Chustz; step great grandchild, Alex Vincent; and a great grandchild due to arrive in November. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Chick Rice; parents, George J. Trappey, Sr. and Eleanor Gonsoulin Trappey; and a sister, Mercedes Terrell. Pallbearers will be Al Chustz, George Weatherford, Chris Chustz, Bill Weatherford, Travis Chustz, and George Trappey, III. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Thursday.
