St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Doug Robertson, 57, who passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
** Due to Covid, the family requests that family and friends wear face masks and practice social distancing while attending the visitation and funeral service. **
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the church from 7:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Rev. Abelardo Gabriel SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be April Lee and Kimya Babers. Gift Bearers will be Erin Martin, Jada Etienne and Princess Etienne.
Interment will follow at House of Love Cemetery in Saint Martinville.
Doug loved riding his motorcycle, dancing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed going to the casino, but he didn’t know how to gamble. Doug loved watching football and his favorite team was the New Orleans Saints. In his spare time, he loved riding around on Sundays.
He is survived by his wife, Claudette Savoy Robertson; mother, Cornelia Robertson; sons, Devin Leon (Sahara), Lendreal "Mikey" Leon (Shelly), and Keyvus Leon (Vanel); step-son, Tremon Savoy; daughters, Tranelle Eskano (Jonathan) and Leshonda Breaux (Allen); step-daughters, Jada Etienne and Princess Etienne; special friend, Tracy Leon (Stanley); brothers, Elmer "Paul" Simon (Gina), Douglas "Sonny" Simon, Jr. (Bridget), James "Allen" Simon, Sr. (Adeline), Thaddeus Simon Sr. (Gail), Phillip Simon Sr. (Patricia), and Patrick Donald Normand (Claire); sisters, Swanetta Cyrio (Fabian, Sr.), Dianna Gibson (Lincoln), Paulette Cormier, Kimberly Lawrence (Nathaniel), Latasha Knighten (Shataaki) and her twin, Latisha Butler, Courtney Butler; and his grandchildren, Erin Martin, Jaelyn Eskano, Kori Leon, Allen Michael III, Devin Leon, Jr., Makayla Leon, Layla Leon, Miley Miles, and Jonathan and Autumn Eskano.
He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Simon; brothers, Alfred "T-boba", Simon, Elton "Doc", Stephen "Ponchy" and Richard Simon, Sr., and Dexter Robertson, Sr.; and sisters, Debra Robertson and Mary "Nelle" Jean Batiste.
Pallbearers will be Elmer "Paul" Simon, Dudley Simon, Dexter Robertson Jr., Cedric Robertson, Douglas Simon III and Lamont Marshall.
Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Leon, Lendreal "Mikey" Leon, Keyvus Leon, Patrick Donald Normand, Johnathan Eskano and Allen Breaux.
