Douglas John Courville

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 25, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Douglas John Courville, 84, who passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 9:30 am.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday.

Rev. Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Gift bearers will be Izabella Johnson, P.J. Johnson, Kolin Bijeaux, Sam and Will Reilly, and Kristian Courville.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.

Doug was born October 20, 1937, in Catahoula. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years as a Military Police Officer. Doug retired as a Directional Driller in the oilfield after 50 years. He also worked at the St. Martin Sheriff Department for 4 years.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. Horse racing, watching old westerns, reading, and cooking were just a few things Doug was fond of. He was a huge fan of LSU, UL and the Saints. Most importantly, his family was everything to him. He loved them to the moon and back. He will be deeply missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lou Ella Guidry Courville; son, Douglas Michael Courville; daughters, Celia Farquhar and Molli Johnson (Harvey); daughter-in-law, Ellen Courville; grandchildren, John Michael Courville, Blain Courville (Paige), Cheramie Courville, Mia Lacey Reilly (Guy), Regi Berard (Jacob), Kylii Bijeaux (Jonathon), Kale Courville (Jessica), Grant Farquhar, Izabella Johnson, and P.J. Johnson; great grandchildren, Zoen Courville, Will Reilly, Sam Reilly, Annie Elle Berard, Kolin Bijeaux, Devin Bijeaux, Kristian Courville, Kameron Courville, and Koen Courville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Aldolphina Theriot Courville; son, Will Craig Courville; grandchild, Gabriel Farquhar; siblings, Donald Paul Courville, Alidia "Sue" Courville Kilgore, Joseph Courville, Jr., Yola Courville, Jr., Dewey Courville, Otis Courville, Similian Courville, Nicholas Theriot, Wade Theriot, Dovic Theriot, Yola Courville Laviolette, Yolande Courville Boudreaux, Doris Courville Forrestier, Bernice Courville Stephenson, Yolande Theriot Rodriquez and Yola Theriot Courville.

Pallbearers will be John Michael Courville, Blain Courville, Kale Courville, Kenneth Patin, Jacob Berard, Guy Reilly, Jonathan Bijeaux and Harvey Johnson.
