Douglas Duaine Dorsey, Sr.

New Iberia - Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Douglas Duaine Dorsey Sr., 71, who passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017, in Lafayette. Interment will be at a later date. Rev. James Doran will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 7:00 AM until 2:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 AM Wednesday. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Dorsey was born on January 5, 1946 to Charles "Pete" and Doris Powell Dorsey. He was a graduate of Catholic High and attended USL, now University of Louisiana Lafayette, and proudly served our country in the United States National Guard. Retiring in 2013 from Dorsey Insurance Agency, Mr. Dorsey was active in several professional organizations, including serving as the President of the Professional Insurance Agents of Louisiana. He published several insurance related articles, and was the number one insurance underwriter for medical malpractice. Survivors include his wife, Judy Romero Dorsey; sons, Doug Dorsey, Jr. and wife Lisa of Lafayette, David Dorsey of New Iberia, Dustin Dorsey and wife Elizabeth of Lafayette; sisters, Denise Dorsey and husband Charles Lee of New Orleans, DeLisa Arnold of Baton Rouge; and grandchildren, Taylor Dorsey, Garrett Dorsey, McKynzie Dorsey, and Chase Dorsey.
