Dr. Clyde L. Rougeou, Jr.
New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 1:00 PM, for Dr. Clyde L. Rougeou Jr., 70, who passed away suddenly on Monday, May 23, 2016, in New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, on Wednesday, May 25, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and will continue on Thursday, May 26, from 10:00am until noon.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, led by the Men's Singing Rosary Group.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Adrienne Simon and Irving Pratt. Gift bearers will be Emma, Mattie, and Will Rougeou.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.
A native of Lafayette, Dr. Rougeou was born on January 25, 1946 to Ruth Houston Rougeou and the late Clyde L. Rougeou, Sr. He graduated from Lafayette High School, and U.S.L., where he was a member of Kappa Sigma, and obtained his Masters Degree in Microbiology. He then graduated from L.S.U. School of Dentistry, and received a Fellowship in Dentistry in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Rougeou was very active in the community. He belonged to several local and national dental associations. He was a member of the Optimist Club, and was on the Board of Supervisors for Louisiana Systems. He enjoyed cooking, and belonged to several supper clubs, including the Jeanerette Gourmet, and Ancient Order of Creole Gourmet, and he also cooked for several local organizations. He loved to travel, especially internationally, and some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, and sporting clays.
Dr. Rougeou is survived by his loving wife, Conseulo "Connie" Pratt Rougeou of New Iberia; son, Todd Rougeou and wife Heather Lynn of Baton Rouge; daughter, Heather D. Rougeou of Lafayette; grandchildren, Emma Rougeou, Mattie Rougeou, and Will Rougeou, all of Baton Rouge; step son, Will Bernard of Lafayette; step daughter, Pam Bernard of Lafayette; step grandchildren, Jennifer Bertrand of Rayne, Dylan Bertrand and wife Skylar of Rayne, and Dakota Bernard of Lafayette; step great-grandchildren, Emily Bertrand and Stephen Bertrand, both of Rayne; mother, Ruth Houston Rougeou of Lafayette; mother-in-law, Ruth deBlanc Pratt of New Iberia; brothers, Benji Rougeou and wife Kris, and Randy Rougeou and wife Cheryl, all of Lafayette; sisters, Eileen Gremillion and husband Wayne of Covington, Sissy Bennett and husband George of Benton, Anne Hargett and husband Ricky of Lafayette, Toni Scott and husband Benton "Scotty" of Iota, Candy Johnson of Houston, and Nancy Simon and husband Jim of New Iberia; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by step daughter, Ruth B. Hebert, and his father, Clyde L. Rougeou, Sr..
Pallbearers will be Benji Rougeou, Randy Rougeou, Edward Pratt, Irving Pratt, Minos Landry, and Dr. Kenny Sherman.
Honorary pallbearers are Pete Pitre, Dave Fellman, Jon Bourgeois, Bobby Patout, Darrell Granger, Daniel Hebert, Stephan Palumbo, and Bud Forrest.
