New Iberia - Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Friday, December 26, 2014, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Dr. Roy L. Landry, MD, 84, who passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, in New Iberia.
Rev. Ed Degeyter, will be the Celebrant.
Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, 130 N. Richelieu Circle, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 AM Friday.
A graduate of St. Peter's College, SLI, and LSU School of Medicine, Dr. Landry attended annual retreats at Our Lady of the Oaks every year since high school. He was co-owner of Dauterive Hospital where he practiced for 40 years. After his retirement, he volunteered for Hospice of Acadiana for 5 years. Dr. Landry established the first occupational Medicine Clinic at the Port of Iberia. He was an active member of the American Medical Society, and the American College of Occupational Medicine, American College of Family Physicians, and was also an Aviation Medical Examiner. Dr. Landry served on the Board of Directors of People's Bank. An avid hunter, he spent many days fishing and traveling. He loved his family dearly and was a devout Catholic.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Flo Montte Landry of New Iberia, LA; three sons, Greg Landry and wife Donna of Lafayette, LA, Patrick Landry and wife Rita of Youngsville, LA, Stephen Landry and wife Carol of Lafayette, LA; two daughters, Ginger Walker and husband Tommy of Broussard, LA, Debbie Brown of Lafayette, LA; sister, Gloria Wiggins of Delcambre, LA; 11 Grandchildren, and 2 Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Adolph Landry, mother, Nathalie Landry, brother, Dr. Edwin Landry and wife Edna Lea, brother-in-law, Pervis Wiggins, infant granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Landry.
Pallbearers will be Greg Landry, Patrick Landry, Steve Landry, Ryan Landry, Timothy Brown, and Daniel Brown.
Honorary pallbearers include Tommy Walker, Luke Walker, Jake Walker, Andrew Landry, and Caleb Mayard.
