A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, and a long time resident of New Iberia, Dr. Wassell was a 1966 Graduate of Hall High School in Little Rock. He was a 1971 Graduate of Centenary College in Shreveport, LA, and a 1975 Graduate of the University of Arkansas Medical School. Bill completed his Radiology internship at Confederate Memorial Medical Center in Shreveport, LA in 1976, then completed his Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the L.S.U. School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1980.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Although his days of fishing and hunting were long gone, he loved nature and all animals. He was a man of conviction and lived life on his own terms. Bill had an inquisitive mind and a thirst for knowledge and the truth. For the past 10 years, he devoted his life to Orthomolecular Medicine, studying the body of work of Linus Pauling, Abraham Hoffer, M.D. PhD, and Thomas Levy, M.D., just to name a few pioneers in this field of medicine. He helped countless patients that sought alternative treatment for cancer and other diseases after being failed by Allopathic Medicine. Bill was a humble man that enjoyed a simple life of organic gardening and taking care of his country home and family.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Irene Giello Wassell; son, Maj. William Moore Wassell, Jr. and wife Angela Olivier Wassell of New Iberia; daughters, Dr. Jennifer Leigh Mead and husband Curtis Mead of Wichita, KS, and Rebecca Wassell Genovese and husband Anthony Genovese, Jr. of Chalmette; stepdaughters, Candice Lynne Gallagher and Deidre Gallagher of New Orleans; grandchildren, James Corydon Wassell, John Tucker Wassell, Gracie Jane Kaumeyer, Lincoln McAlmont Kaumeyer, Anthony Richard Genovese, III, Tucker Allen Mead, and Joseph Vito Genovese; and siblings, John R. Wassell, Jr. and spouse Elizabeth Field Wassell of Johns Creek, GA, and Joy Ann Wassell of Little Rock, AR.
