Dula Degetaire

"God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be found, so He put his arms around you and said; "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched you slowly fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, your hard-working hands put to rest...God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best." It is with great sadness that the family of Dula Degetaire announces her passing after a brief illness, on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the age of 84 years. Funeral services for will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 12:30 P.M. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Father Ed Degeyter will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers shall be her grandchildren Trisha Frith and Sonya Degetaire. Gift Bearers shall be her great grandchildren Katie Frith, Bryce Guidry and Trey Gallet. Born on December 25, 1923, the firstborn of Theobald and Isabelle Latiolais Sr. , she married Chester Degetaire Sr. with whom she operated a grocery store while raising her five children. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend she was giving and always loving. We were truly blessed to have had her in our lives. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that she lived a good life and knew God. A beautiful lady with a wonderful sense of listening and not much talking, she had a strong sense of family and will always be remembered. We feel gratitude for all the years she was always there for us. She leaves behind her children Chester (C.J.) and his wife Diana Degetaire, Carlton and his wife Diana Degetaire, Larry and his wife Yolanda Degetaire, Linda and her husband Jerry Guidry Jr., and Jerry and his wife Faye Degetaire. Her Grandchildren, Trisha Frith and her husband Clint, Sonya Degetaire, Laura Degetaire, Leslie Gallet and her husband Geoff. Dustin Degetaire, Haeven Degetaire, Brogan Degetaire, Dax Guidry, Pauline Serrano and her husband Alex, Lucette Guidry, Kyli Degetaire, and Grant Degetaire. Her Great-Granchildren Katie Frith, Kelli Frith, Karli Frith, Trey Gallet, Ella Gallet, Hannah Degetaire, Baylin Degetaire, Bryce Guidry, Brayden Robin and Jaylyn Serrano. Her sisters, Murley LeBlanc, Laura Belle and her husband J.C. Tauzin, Peggy Hebert and Earline and her husband Carl Underwood. Her brothers, Lester and his wife Mary Latiolais, and Toby and his wife Earline Latiolais. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theobald and Isabelle Latiolais Sr., her husband Chester Degetaire Sr., her brothers Allen Latiolais, Dois Latiolais, and her sister Delta Brasseaux. Her Brother-In-Laws Ferdy Brasseaux, Floyd LeBlanc and Dean Hebert Sr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Friday, April 11, 2008 and continue at 7:00 A.M. until time of services on Saturday, April 12, 2008. Honored to serve as her pallbearers shall be her four sons, Chester Degetaire, Jr., Carlton Degetaire, Larry Degetaire and Jerry Degetaire. Her Brother Toby Latiolais and her Grandson Dax Guidry. Honorary pallbearers shall be her Grandchildren Dustin Degetaire, Haeven Degetaire, Brogan Degetaire, Grant Degetaire and her Son-In-Law Jerry Guidry Jr. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Doctors, nurses and staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and Hospice of Acadiana for their compassion and gentleness that she received during her illness.
