New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Earl "Pop" Beers, 73, who passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017, in New Iberia.
Interment will follow at a later date.
Deacon Patrick Burke will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 AM Saturday.
A resident of New Iberia, "Pop" was born on February 27, 1944 to the late Edward William Beers and Lillian Laviolette, and proudly served our country in the U.S Army. He worked as a grounds keeper for St. Peter's Catholic Church, and also has a machinist for Booker Drilling, Red Fox, and FMC Well Head Division. Mr. Beers was a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 3425, and he enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Julie Boren and husband Jeff of New Iberia, Eddie Beers and wife Rhiannon of New Iberia, Tanya Darby and husband Murphy of Youngsville, Casey Beers of New Iberia, Carl Beers and wife Jackie of New Iberia; brother, Jerry Williams and wife Sue of Longview, Texas; twin sister, Pearl Comeaux and Gerald of Coteau; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and his beloved pets, Ozzie and Scrapy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Segura Beers; step father, Louis Laviolette; and a sister, Margaret Perry.
