Henderson - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 24, 2013, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Earl James 'To-Bit' Patin, 74, who passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at his residence. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, May 23rd from 11 a.m. until 10:30 am on Friday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Henderson. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Fr. Keith Landry will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Danielle Champagne and Lexi Patin. Gift Bearers will be Kylie Patin and Bethany Michel. Music will be provided by Laura Berard and Cherie Angelle Johnson. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Henderson. Earl James Patin, better known to his family and many friends as 'To-Bit,' was a captain of a boat for a dredge company for 45 years. After his retirement, he worked as a tour guide for McGees Landing for several years. He also served as a Councilman for the Town of Henderson for 8 years and also served as the Mayor of Henderson from 1996 - 2004. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. 'To-Bit' had a passion for cooking and gardening and he loved listening to music. His dedication to serving his community of Henderson and St. Martin Parish will long be remembered and he will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Doris Jane Guidry Patin of Henderson; two sons, Kelly 'Noopy' Patin (Sissy), and Keith Patin (Jennifer), all of Cecilia; one daughter, Tammie Savoy (Bert) of Cecilia; one sister, Anitra Dupuis; seven grandchildren, Kain Savoy, Danielle Champagne, Bo Patin, Lexi Patin, Kale Patin, Kylie Patin, and Bethany Michel; and eight great grandchildren, Gavan Savoy, Kiana Savoy, Brooklyn Savoy, Bronx Savoy, Paisley Champagne, Ahmi Champagne, Arlie Patin, and Mason Patin. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Patin, Sr. and Evela Wiltz Patin; two brothers, Nadley Patin and John Patin, Jr.; and two sisters, Yola P. Martin and Elaine P. Serrette. Pallbearers will be Keith Patin, Kelly Patin, Kale Patin, Bo Patin, Bert Savoy, and Kain Savoy. Honorary pallbearers will be Gavan Savoy, Burt Guidry, John Carey Guidry, Marvin Serrette, Sr., Charles Serrette, and Loylley Allemond. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Warren Degatur and staff, Dr. Johnson, Scarlet Guidry, Heart of Hospice, Regional Home Health, and Gwen Allemond.
