New Iberia - Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, January 16, 2015, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Earlene Duplantis Garber, 86, who passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, in New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia.
Rev. Scott Bullock will officiate.
Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
A native of New Iberia, Mrs. Garber was born on June 22, 1928 and was a lifelong are resident. She was a graduate of New Iberia Senior High School, SLI, now the University of Louisiana Lafayette, and Tulane University, and was a teacher and a Supervisor of Social Studies for the Iberia Parish School Board for many years. Mrs. Garber was the National President of the American Hemerocallis Society, and a member of the American Camellia Society, and numerous Horticultural Clubs. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa Iota, the Lydia Homemakers Club, and was a Past Louisiana Teacher of the Year.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Garber Stevens and husband Dennis of New Iberia; grandchildren, Thomas Stevens and wife Heather of Arnaudville, Christopher Stevens of Baton Rouge, Lynn Musumeche and husband Matthew of Broussard, great grandson, Blake Thomas Stevens; sister, Melrose D. Cole of Houma.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Antoine Gene Garber; parents, Cenua and Sidonia Boutte Duplantis. sisters, Mae Duplantis, Hazel Duplantis, Florence D. Skeide and an infant sister; brother, Wilbert Duplantis.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Stevens, Chris Stevens, Matt Musumeche, Steve Skeide, James Cole, and Walter Scott.
