VIEW ; VIDEO TRIBUTE Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, in Breaux Bridge for Earline T. Broussard Bergeron Castille, 77, who died on Monday, October 13, 2008 at her residence. Interment will follow at Bergeron Oak Family Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. ; Father Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church will officiate at the funeral Mass, assisted by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert. ; The readers will be Elaine Thibodeaux and Sheila Melancon. Gift bearers will be her sister, Louella Blanchard and sister-in-law, Velma Broussard. Music will be provided by Pat Melancon and Karen Broussard Earline Broussard Bergeron Castille was born on August 29, 1931 in Port Arthur, Texas to Leoncia and Jules Donald Broussard. At the age of one, she and her parents moved to Breaux Bridge, where she was raised on the family farm. She helped her parents and six sibling's plant and harvest several crops and even drove the farm tractor. Working alongside her sisters and brother in the cotton fields, sometimes lagging behind them, she'd say "I'm never going to marry a farmer." "Just wait, one day I'm going to drive a Cadillac." At the age of 19 she married Wilbert Bergeron from Breaux Bridge. He worked on the railroad and on the family dairy farm and later found work in the oilfield. Earline helped out at the dairy, milking cows, and worked at Borden's Ice Cream Shop on Johnston Street, in Lafayette, and also worked for "Hadicol" as a secretary. Together they both saved enough money to buy a workover rig and started a business called, Louisiana Well Service. She was the secretary, hot shot driver, and also the cook. Also on her plate was raising her four children, Gail, Ray, Darlene and Bonnie. Wilbert and Earline loved to travel, joining a motorcycle club and traveling several states on their bikes. She was also a jet-setter, seeing places like Hawaii, Jerusalem, Jamaica, Mexico, the Bahamas, Canada, and Greece. Their blissful 34 year marriage came to an end when Wilbert passed away in 1984 of bone cancer. She was a widow for 3 years until she met the second love of her life, Ames Castille. They married on her 56th birthday in 1987. They too loved to travel and also enjoyed bowling, horse racing and watching football - Earline was a dedicated Saints fan. Earline and Ames were happily married for 21 years. Even though she loved playing the slot machines, nothing was better to her than a game of Poverty Boure with her husband, siblings and friends. Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1995, Earline's heart of gold and kind soul still showed through it all. She helped out many people throughout her lifetime, and it came back to her 7-fold. She was a kind and gentle women and will be deeply missed by her family and all who loved her. Survivors include her husband, John Ames Castille, of Breaux Bridge; three daughters, Gail Guidry and her husband, Melvin, Darlene Melancon and her husband, Gary, and Bonnie Bergeron, all of Breaux Bridge; her daughter-in-law, Jeanne T. Bergeron, of Breaux Bridge; two step sons, Johnny Castille and his wife, Phyllis, of Parks, and Kenneth Castille and his companion, Cathy, of Lafayette; one step daughter, Vycki Guidry, of Breaux Bridge; one brother, Jules Donald Broussard, of Breaux Bridge; three sisters, Gloria Brasseaux, Leatrice "Poupae" Charpentier, all of Breaux Bridge, and Louella Blanchard, of Parks; 9 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jules and Leoncia Dupuis Broussard; her late husband, Wilbert Bergeron; her son, Ray Bergeron; one brother, Russell Broussard; one sister, Audrey T. Bergeron; and her grandson, Joey Ray Bergeron. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 7 a.m. on Thursday until time of service. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be her brother, Jules Donald Broussard, three grandsons, Ira Guidry, Ike Melancon, and Heath Hebert, her step-son, Johnny Castille, and long time family friend, A. J. Domingue. Honorary pallbearers will be her two sons-in-law, Melvin Guidry and Gary Melancon, her grandson, Reese Hebert, and his father, Bill Hebert. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her siblings for their constant love and support they showed throughout her illness, the Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels Program, and Caregiver Relief. Also, a very special thank you to Mrs. Joyce Ebow, Felicia Landry, Chassity Richard, Debra Maynard, Melissa Sam, as well as, Southern Health Care, Jackie Olinger, R.N., Tracie Cooke, R.N., and her caregivers, Jean Roberts and Wanda Roberts; her social worker, Rachel Lacy, and Chaplain, Ann Fritzgerald, for their wonderful service provided to her - they were all of our Angels. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to be made to the St. Martin Parish Council on Aging, 511 Wild Cherry Lane, Breaux Bridge, LA 70517 or to Southern Care Hospice, 109 Abigalyle's Row, Scott, LA 70583.
