New Iberia - Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Earnest Paul "Polo Bear" Richard, 63, who passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019, in New Iberia.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until 10:00 am.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Earnest was born on March 9, 1956 to the late Jerry and Emily Domingue Richard. “Polo Bear” worked in the oilfield all of his life and he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing pool, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Duplantis and husband Brennen of Broussard, Jessica Migues of Bull Island; sister, Geraldine Richard of Arnaudville; brothers, Perry Joseph Richard and wife Diane of North Carolina, Russell Richard and wife Christina of North Carolina, Jerry "J.J." Richard and wife Karen of Cecilia, Craig Stevens and wife Leslie of New Iberia; 4 grandchildren, and his riding brother, Steve Ball of New Iberia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dustin Richard; and brothers, John Mabery Richard, and Lowell Keith "Smokey" Richard.
Pallbearers will be Steve Ball, Kerry Thibodeaux, Trey Derouen, Jerry Joseph Richard, Peyton Richard, and Brennen Duplantis.
Honorary pallbearers include Craig Stevens and Keith Begnaud.
