Eddie Dorsey, Jr, known affectionately to many as "Deac" or "Sweet Eddie D", 62, of Baytown, TX, suddenly entered eternal rest on February 16, 2025.
Eddie was a loving, kind, caring man who would give the shirt off of his back to anyone. He was the life of the party and loved to dress and have a good time. He was a "fly OG". That's not to be confused with him knowing the word of the Lord. Eddie gave his life to God in his 20s, earning him the title of "Deacon Dorsey," although he faced many challenges and struggles, he found solace in the Word. In the last days leading up to his death, he was very repentant of his past wrongdoings, confessed his sins to the Lord, and asked to be made whole. If anyone knew "Deac," they knew he'd always say, "I am the best because I serve the best! I settle for nothing less, and I take no mess from the rest, Whatever I do, I do it at my best!"
Eddie was an excellent painter, running the family's painting business for over 30 years. He also worked in the oil field in his younger years. Eddie will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, laughter, and generosity that will continue to inspire those who knew him. As we mourn his passing, let us celebrate Eddie's life and the remarkable achievements he accomplished in his all-too-short time on this earth.
He is survived by his wife, Sonia Benoit Dorsey, of 17 years, and their daughter Sage Emanuel Dorsey. He is also survived by his ex-wife Marie Dugas Dorsey of 24 years and their children, Krystal Lane Dorsey, Edward Blair Dorsey (Amber), and Faith Danielle Dorsey. His grandchildren, Christian Allen Archangel, Kaylee Dorsey, Zoey Huntsberry, Jace Dorsey, Anya Huntsberry, and Paityn Dorsey. His father, Eddie Dorsey, Sr. (Ruby) of Alexandria, LA, his brothers, Albert Rue (Shontel) of Baytown, TX, Donald Dorsey (Sue Lee), Keith King (Cavalonda) of Alexandria, LA, and his sister, Debra Perry of Alexandria, LA. His sisters-in-law, Eva Dell Dugas of Breaux Bridge, LA, Rita George of Lafayette, LA, and Princess Dugas of Lithonia, GA, his bothers-in-law, Rodney Dugas (Evola) of Fayetteville, GA, and Randy Dugas of Smyrna, GA., as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Earline Robicheaux Stewart, his brother Joseph Jimmy Wiltz, his father-in-law, William Benoit, his mother-in-law, Alma Demouchet, his father-in-law, Phillip Demouchet, his brother-in-law, Johnny Edward George, and many other loved ones.
We find comfort in knowing that Eddie's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
