Arnaudville - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Arnaudville, for Edmond "Blackie" Guidroz, Sr., 81, who passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010. Entombment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Mausoleum in Arnaudville. Chaplain Ron DuBois will conduct the funeral service. Mr. Guidroz was retired as a Chief Engineer, having worked in the dredge boating industry for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, while entertaining them at various gatherings. Edmond loved watching old western movies and wrestling. He always shared a friendly wave with everyone he passed, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Jean Fore Guidroz, of Alabama; two daughters, Lydia Guidry and husband, Joseph, of Breaux Bridge, and Lisa Ann Guidroz and husband, David, of St. Amant, LA; two sons, Larry Guidroz and wife, Barbara, of Evans, LA, and Rickey Guidroz and wife, Lillian, of Sunset; two step sons, Timothy Stokes and wife, Verna, of Florida, and Danny Stokes, of Alabama; his daughter-in-law, Nancy Guidroz, of Arnaudville; one brother, Gilbert Guidroz and wife, Antoinette, of Hessmer, LA; four sisters, Rita Dupre and husband, Gerald, Edna Credeur, and Vivian Soileau and husband, J.C., all of Port Barre, and Alice Guidry and husband, Lawrence, of Cecilia; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Edmond Guidroz, Jr.; his first wife, Elizabeth Guidroz; his parents, Elias and Avenire Lavergne Guidroz; a step son, Michael Stokes; two brothers, Wilfred and Wilson Guidroz; and two sisters, Ellendor and Gertie Stelly. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited by Leatrice Meche at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Pallbearers will be Joshua Guidroz, Hunter Warren, Gerald Dupre, Kody Dodge, Nicholas Patin, and Carrol Noel. ; Honorary pallbearers will be Chaney Dodge, Kanin Dodge, Jase Stelly, Matthew Guidroz, and Braddy Guidroz. The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for the love and care given to "Blackie" during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 1003 S. Hugh Wallis Rd., Ste.
