Edna Brown Charles

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia for Edna Brown Charles, 77, who passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021, at St. Martin Hospital. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am on Friday. Rev. Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Edna worked at Fruit of the Loom as seamstress for many years and was also a salesperson for Avon. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who especially loved caring for her grandchildren. Edna was a strong-willed woman who would always keep peace in the family and lived life to the fullest each day. As a pastime, she enjoyed going to the casino, playing Bingo, and playing the lottery daily. Edna will forever be remembered for her kind-hearted and loving disposition to anyone who needed. She is survived by her husband, Ulysses Charles, Sr. of Arnaudville; three daughters, Prenella (Raymond Frederick, Sr.) Charles of Arnaudville, Dianna (James Alvin ) Boyd of Breaux Bridge, and Sarah (Clarence Lewis) Charles of Cecilia; three sons, Anthony (Barbara) Brown of Youngsville, Russell (Centrelle) Charles Sr. of Henderson, and Uylsses (Shannon A. Latiolais) Charles Jr. of Arnaudville; two sisters, Sue Ann (Harold) Aubert of SC and Mary (Isaac) Julien of Lafayette; brother, Felton Brown, Sr. of Breaux Bridge; fifteen grandchildren, Cody Steward, Tamika Charles, Racquel Charles, Rochelle Charles, Selena Lee Charles, Rosalee Charles, Lakasha Charles, Donna Charles, Ryan Charles, Raymond Frederick, Jr., Jillie Boyd, Jeanea Boyd, Daphne Charles, Danielle Charles, and Madison Charles; and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Brown Sr. and Evelyn Gary Brown; a grandchild, Russell Charles, Jr.; four brothers, Sam Brown, Jr., Nelson Brown, Louis Brown, and Anthony Brown; and three sisters, Nola Mae Ames, Verda Brown, and Rose Sylvester. Pallbearers will be Cody Steward, Raymond Frederick Jr., Derenzie Zenon, Forrest Journet, James Journet, and Tyrone Sylvester. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Brown, Russell Charles Sr., Dennis Journet, Ulysess Charles Jr., Marcus Brown, James Boyd, Raymond Frederick Sr., and Clarence Lewis.
