Edna Jean Batiste Frederick

Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 25, 2007, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Edna Jean Batiste Frederick, 107, who died on Friday, August 17, 2007 at her residence. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Fr. Aaron Melancon, pastor of St. Rose of Lima Church, will conduct the services. Mrs. Frederick, better known as "Mommit" to her family, enjoyed spending time with her family, while teaching them how to love and respect one another. She also loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers in her yard that brought an array of colors that surrounded her home. She continued to maintain her home until she reached the age of 105. Survivors include one son, George Frederick, Jr., of Cecilia; three daughters, Bebeanna Pitte, Myrtle Singleton, both of Cecilia, and Gertrude Breaux, of Henderson; 23 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; and 28 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Cidalis Thomas Jean Batiste; her husband, George Frederick, Sr.; two sons, Joseph Steven LeBlanc, and an infant; four sisters; and eight brothers. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. on Friday, and continue until time of service on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Horace Calais, Orlando Frederick, Dedric LeBlanc, James LeBlanc, Brandon Matthews, Jeremy Mathews, Isreal Singleton, and Johnathan Singleton Honorary pallbearers will be George Frederick, Jr., Bennett Cormier, Jessie Davis, Jr., Dennis Frederick, Hebert J. Batiste, Monie J. Batiste, Reginald J. Batiste, Russell J. Batiste, Clifton LeBlanc, Larry LeBlanc, Melvin Lewis, Gilbert Matthews, Harold Singleton, Paul Vallier, and Ivan Williams. The family would like to thank Dr. Clinton Young and his staff, Hospice of Acadiana, and Maison De Williams, for all their support and help through their mother's struggle. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
