Edna Guidry McGee

Henderson - Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Edna Guidry McGee, 94, who passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Henderson. Fr. Gary Schexnayder will be the celebrant. Readers will be Heather Hayes and Madelyn Hebert. Gift Bearers will be Debi Landry, Danielle Landry and Daisy Taylor. Edna McGee and her husband, Claude were owners of McGee's Boat Landing in Henderson, LA. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, picking pecans, and sitting on her porch with family and friends. Survivors include her daughters, Vallee Allemond and her husband, Loylley and Velma "Toot" Serrette and her husband, Lester all of Henderson; her brother Louis Guidry and his wife, Delores of Lafayette; her sister, Joyce Boutin of Lafayette; her grandchildren, Darrell Serrette, I, Debi Landry, Brenda Hayes and Daisy Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Darrell Serrette, II, Danielle Landry, Rylee Lamb, Heather Hayes, Dillon Hayes, Kennedi Taylor and Jace Taylor; and her great-great-grandchildren, Madelyn Hebert and Zaylie Serrette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude McGee; her parents, Mathias and Elise Guidry; her brothers, Ivy, Ovey, and Leroy Guidry; and her step-mother, Edith Guidry. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9 a.m. Monday, September 7, 2009 until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Sherman Hayes, Jonathan Jean Dugas, Kirk Taylor, Leroy Boutin, Darrell Serrette, I and Darrell Serrette, II. Honorary pallbearers will be Lester Serrette, Loylley Allemond, Dillon Hayes and Louis Guidry. Pellerin Funeral Home of Henderson is in charge of arrangements.
