Breaux Bridge - Edward 'Da-dee' Mercier, Jr., 71, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, with Fr. Joseph Campion officiating. Scriptures will be read by Dwayne Simon and Erika Henry. Gift Bearers will be Christian Lewis and Jospeh Robertson, Jr.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
'Da-dee' was employed with Atlas Feed Mills, Inc. for 30 years and Bostic Concrete Company for 10 years.
He enjoyed horse racing, playing cards, dancing, working in his garden and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Landry Mercier of Breaux Bridge; one son, Edward Mercier III of Breaux Bridge; his sisters, Eva D. (Albert, Sr.) Simon of St. Martinville and Mary M. (Lester, Jr.) Landry of Breaux Bridge; his grandchildren, Ebonie Abraham, Hayley Abraham and Ayah Roy; and his godchildren, Carson Mark Guidry, Albert Simon, Jr., Adam Mercier and Veronica Flugence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Agnus Doucet Mercier, Sr.; his daughter, Thetra Mercier; his brothers, Paul C. Mercier, Sr., Raymond Mercier and Norman Mercier; and his sister, Louella Patt.
Pallbearers will be Paul Mercier, Jr., Carson Mark Guidry, Shannon Dural, Terry Landry, Joseph Pierre, and Lyle Pitte.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Mercier, III, Lester Landry, Jr., Ricky Landry, Larry Landry, Michael Landry, Albert Simon, Sr., Albert Simon, Jr., Adam Mercier,and Mark Patt.
