Jeanerette A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 13, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette for Edward S. Eddie Miller, III, 82, who died Monday, November 10, 2014, in Jeanerette. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Peter Rogers will be the Celebrant. Rev. Jody Simoneaux and Rev. Mike Champagne will Con-Celebrate. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 10:15 AM. Mr. Miller was born in Jeanerette, Louisiana on November 26, 1931, and has lived his entire life in Jeanerette. He was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and attended Curculio No. 37. A lifetime member of the NRA, he was also a member of the National Trappers Association, VFW Post 8150, and the American Legion. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Wasp as a radio operator, during the Korean War. A 1950 graduate from St. Peters College, his nickname in high school was First Down Miller. He attended Southern Louisiana Institute, and was a HAM operator extra class with call sign AB5AD. Mr. Miller was a pioneer crawfish farmer, sugarcane farmer, and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He loved hunting, trapping, fishing, and making a garden as well as telling jokes. He also loved to cook, and was a frequent flyer of Prestons grocery club. Survivors include his six children, Toni Jumonville, Monica Miller, Jeb Miller and wife Jennifer, Eleanor Landry and husband Wayne Trucker Landry, Edward Miller, IV and wife Ashley, Mary Switzer and husband Shawn; 20 grandchildren, Cardell Jumonville, Jr. and wife Jacque, Jacob, Anne Marie, and Nicholas Jumonville, Renee Prather and husband William, Megan White and husband Chris, Allison, Brittany, Brooke, and Lindsay Miller, Heather Jolet, Meagan Bourque and husband Rickey, Sara Verret and husband Heith, Allyson, Emilie, Haylie, and MacKenzie Miller, Laudun Landry, Taylor and Seth Switzer; his twelve great grandchildren; and his three dogs, Sassy, Sarge, and Gumbo. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Gonsoulin Miller; his mother, Cecile Laudun Miller; father, Edward Miller, Jr.; his only sister Margaret Ticker Deare; and good friend, Barbara Hebert. Pallbearers will be Donald Rocky Bishop, Bret Bishop, Johnny Bishop, Bill Porche, Romo Romero, Ken Dollinger, Cardell Jumonville, Jr., and Scott Hebert. Honorary pallbearers include Harold Boops Bienvenue, Harry Monin, A.J. Tellotta, F.G. Mixon, Bill Schremp, Donny Thomas, Richard Desonier, Mickey Pugh, Michael Deare, John Mackey Laudun, Cardell Jumonville, Sr., and Carol Gravios. The family would like to give special thanks to Pat Tellotta, Anita Willis, Tina Derise, Pam, Vanessa, Peggy, Dr. Donna Tesi, Dr. Steven McPherson, Henrietta Chambers, FNP and Journey Hospice Employees, especially his nurse Amanda.
