Edward Singleton

Cecilia- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Edward James Singleton, Jr., 36, who died on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 8:30 am. Rev. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Octavia Ledet and Gift Bearers will be Dominque Prejean and Xavier Batiste. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Edward played football for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Louisiana State University. As a pastime, he enjoyed going fishing, shooting pool, cooking, and just hanging out with his family and friends. Edward never met a stranger - he was friends with everyone, and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Astrid Singleton of Loreauville; five sons, Brandon Singleton of St. Martinville, Dylan Singleton, Edward Singleton, III, both of Loreauville, Elijiah Singleton and Dayejahlond Guidry, both of St. Martinville; his daughter, Alaysia Savoy of St. Martinville; his parents, Edward James Singleton, Sr. and Kathleen Monroe Singleton, of St. Martinville; one brother, Theoderrick Singleton; and his sister, Eleanor (Bobby) Batiste, all of St. Martinville. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Varise and Eleanor Monroe; and his paternal grandparents, Adley and Labertha Singleton.
