Breaux Bridge A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Friday, August 14, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Edwin Jean Batiste, Sr., 75, who passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015, at St. Martin Hospital.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 am on Friday.
Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Edwin was on the church council at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for over 20 years where he also managed Bingo for years. He served as a Breaux Bridge City Councilman and was a foster and adoptive parent. He was a family man and enjoyed going to his grandchildren's events. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Alexander Jean Batiste of Breaux Bridge; his sons, Glenn Edward (Mary Ann) Jean Batiste, Sr., Kyle (Tiffany) Jean Batiste, Ozer (Martha) Alexander, Clarence (Imdie) Alexander, Wilbert Alexander, and Milton Joseph; his daughters, Keisha Jean Batiste, Penelope Jean Batiste (Michael, Sr.) Cochran, Debrica Jean Batiste (Coalancyo) Williams, Danielle Jean Batiste (Peter, Sr.) Castille, Tameka Jean Batiste, Kendra Jean Batiste, Marie (Dwight) Bryant, seventeen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; his sister, Verline Jean Batiste; his brothers, Harold Lee Jean Batiste, and Edward Wiltz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Edwin Jean Batiste, Jr.; his father, Weston Jean Batiste; his mother, Louisiana Joseph Jean Batiste; his brothers, Roosevelt Jean Batiste and Herbert Jean Batiste; and his sister, Mary Rose Jean Batiste Dalcourt.
