Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Edwin Paul Darby, 64, who passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 8:00 am until 12:45 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Friday. Rev. Gary Schexnayder will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Margaret Darby. Gift bearers will be Joan Miller and Phyllis Stelly. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Cecilia. Paul was a loving husband, father, and brother. His life was a normal one. He worked as a manager of a parts and paint store all of his career. His most precious gifts in life were surely his wife and his two children. He cherished his sisters and all of his nieces and nephews. The one thing that motivated him was his love of music. Whether he was playing his guitar or listening to CDs of his favorite artists. When he was a little boy, he would play his toy guitar and pretend to be Elvis Presley, singing You Aint Nothing but a Hound Dog. Paul loved the South Louisiana weather; rain or shine. He loved taking long rides on the country roads enjoying the scenery. He loved good food, to cook and eat, and took hints from some of the Cajun chefs cooking shows. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Were not promised tomorrow. He is survived by his loving wife Millie Calais Darby of Lafayette; his son, Ian Darby of Youngsville; his daughter, Hannah D. Andrepont and husband Chase, of Woodlands, TX; and his sisters, Margaret Martin, Joan Miller, and Phyllis Stelly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Marjorie Wright Darby; and his brother, Patrick Darby. Pallbearers will be Ian Darby, Chase Andrepont, Vernon Robin, Rusty Miller, Frankie Martin, Trevor Bergeron, Trent Bergeron, and Luke Martin.
