Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm, on Friday, April 17, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Edwin Dumatrait, 80, who passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 8:00 am until 12:30, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert. Fr. David Broussard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Abby Dumatrait and Tiffany Dumatrait. Gift Bearers will be Emma Dumatrait and Shelby Dumatrait. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Dumatrait was employed by Franks Casing Crew for most of his life. As a pastime he enjoyed gardening, fishing, listening to Cajun French Music, and visiting with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Choate Dumatrait; five sons, Edwin "Eddie" Dumatrait, Jr. and wife, Lorraine, Bobby Dumatrait and wife, Jackie, Timmy Dumatrait and wife, Leslie, Mark Dumatrait and wife, Nellie, and Marcel Dumatrait and wife, Lisa; and 13 grandchildren, Eric Dumatrait, Chad Dumatrait, Manny Dumatrait, Christopher Dumatrait, Abby Dumatrait, Tim Dumatrait, Stefani Breaux, Megan Dumatrait, Marcus Dumatrait, Cristal Freeman, Ashlee Dumatrait, Dustin Dumatrait, and Ariel Dumatrait; and 13 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Clay Dumatrait and Ezola Thomassee Dumatrait; his sister, May Dumatrait Dugas; three brothers, Alcee, Percy, and Clifton Dumatrait; four half brothers; and five half sisters. Pallbearers will be Eric Dumatrait, Chad Dumatrait, Manny Dumatrait, Christopher Dumatrait, Tim Dumatrait, and Marcus Dumatrait. Honorary pallbearer will be Dustin Dumatrait.
