Edwina Chataignier Guirard

VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE St. Martinville - Edwina C. Guirard, age 77, of St. Martinville, Louisiana went to be with her Savior on Thursday, February 19, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, February 23, 2009, in Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Martinville. Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Her son-in-law, Pastor Jeff Benda, will conduct the funeral service. She is survived by her husband, of 56 years, Gerald "Jay" Guirard, Sr., of St. Martinville; two sons, Gerald J. Guirard, Jr., and Eric J. Guirard, both of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Donna K. Benda, of Little Rock, AR; five brothers, Charles Chataignier, of Slidell, Clay Chataignier, of St. Martinville, Ricky Chataignier, of Baton Rouge, Carrol Chataignier, of Broomfield, CO, and Mike Chataignier, of Bridge City, TX; six sisters, Doris Fournet, of New Iberia, Lorraine Lovas, Hope Dugas, Timmy Chataignier, Gayle Gray, and Taudie Darcy, all of St. Martinville; and five grandchildren, J. T. Guirard, Kathryn Benda, Tyler Benda, Easton Guirard, and Eden Guirard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles "Charlie" and Therese "Taye" Bienvenu Chataignier; and a sister, Charlene Chataignier. Eddie was one of the most hospitable, self-sacrificing and enjoyable individuals you would ever meet. She was an attentive daughter, devoted wife, an incredible mother, an awesome grandmother, loving aunt, supportive sister and faithful friend who enriched the lives of everyone around her. She was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Gerald Guirard, Jr., Eric Guirard, Clay Chataignier, Charles Chataignier, Mike Chataignier, and Carrol Chataignier.
