Eildred Boudreaux
New Iberia – The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 10:00 am Monday, March 4, 2024, for Eildred Boudreaux, 96, who passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at her home in Coteau, Louisiana, surrounded by loved ones.
Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Brian Harrington will be the Celebrant.
Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024 and will resume Monday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00 pm the Sunday.
Recognized in the community as a pillar of faith and love, Eildred led a life filled with devotion, compassion, and joy.
Eildred was known for her unwavering commitment to her Catholic faith. As a longstanding member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, she actively participated in the Charismatic Movement and prayer group, dedicating herself to attending and teaching “Come Lord Jesus” for many years. Eildred and her late husband, John, were deeply involved in the Engaged Encounter ministry, generously opening their home to mentor couples and share their wisdom and faith.
Eildred and her husband John shared the love of travel and embarked on journeys in the U.S. and Europe during their retirement, including Medjugorje, Rome, Israel, Germany, and France. Their shared passion for spreading love and kindness impacted everyone they encountered.
Eildred’s spirituality breathed life into her worldly activities, and she experienced much pleasure in simple yet meaningful activities. She was involved with Home Demonstration for many years. Whether it was sewing for loved ones or delighting in the art of cooking, camping, or gardening – she poured her heart into everything she did. Her fondness for roses reflected the beauty she saw in the world around her.
Above all else, Eildred cherished family and children. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her six children to include numerous foster children whom she embraced with open arms. Eildred's role as a beloved grandmother brought boundless love and joy. Affectionately known as "Aunt Jay" to countless nieces and nephews she demonstrated with her life a tradition of strong family values and belonging.
Mrs. Boudreaux is survived by five children, Daniel Boudreaux (Carol), Norman Boudreaux (JoAnn), Sandra Williford (John), Kim Boudreaux (Jean), and Wendy Romero (Todd); daughter-in-law, Ann Boudreaux; grandchildren, Ben Boudreaux (Jen), Rebekah Boudreaux, AmyBoudreaux, Tracy Verret (Larry), Lori Boudreaux, Jake Boudreaux, Michael Boudreaux(Natalie), Joshua Boudreaux, Ryan Boudreaux (Julie), Brandi Collins (Jarrod), Diedra Castille(Jeremy), Blake Boudreaux (Christy), Tala McNeilly (Scott), Caleb Williford, Brandon Boudreaux, Nicholas Boudreaux, Brock Romero (Emmi), Dustin Romero (Meghan), and AllisonRomero (Alex Barras); step-grandchildren, Kara Headington (Ed), and John Altamirano (Erin);foster children, Cynthia Sharp (Bob), Dan Miranda, and Patti Dobbs; 24 great-grandchildren; andtwo great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Boudreaux; son,Terry Boudreaux; foster daughter, Rose Miranda; and eight siblings.
Pallbearers will be Ben Boudreaux, Jake Boudreaux, Brock Romero, Dustin Romero, Blake Boudreaux, and Nicholas Boudreaux.
Honorary pallbearer is Brandon Boudreaux.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Traditions Health Hospice Care for extraordinary care and compassion; and her team of caregivers that helped Eildred through her journey.As we bid farewell to Eildred, let us remember her as a beacon of light whose legacy of faith, kindness, and unconditional love will continue to illuminate our hearts forevermore. May she rest in peace.
