St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Church in Coteau Holmes for Elaine B. Gardemal, 74, who passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, at Iberia Medical Center.The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm on Wednesday.A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am on Wednesday by Irma DeBlanc.Monsignor Jeff DeBlanc will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coteau Holmes. Reader will be Elaine Bonin and Altar Server will be Cole Riley. Elaine enjoyed cutting the grass and sitting outside drinking coffee with company. She loved watching The Bold and the Beautiful. Elaine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sons, Ted Schexnayder (Audrey "Denise"), Timothy Berard (Claudene), and Curtis J. Gardemal, Jr.; daughters, Arlene M. Schexnayder and Shelly Picard (Nanette); brother, Sidney J. Berard (Gene); 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Joseph Gardemal, Sr.; former husband, Dieu Donne "Jay" Picard; parents, Savie Berard and Amiee Bellot Berard; and brother, Jerry Berard. Pallbearers will be Obrey Ronsonet, James Ezell, Brian Berard, Nicholas Riley, Kenneth Sonnier, and Drew Louviere. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis "Trip" Gardemal, III and Samuel Clawson, III.The family wishes to thank the staff of Iberia Medical Center, especially Dr. Ned Dauterive and Lisa Verret, RN, for their care and compassion.
