Elaine Gaspard

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Martinville, for Elaine McCauley Gaspard, 69, who passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until 11:45 a.m. Pastor Rob Longmire will conduct the funeral service. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Elaine worked as a nurses aide for numerous years. As a pastime, she enjoyed crocheting and in her younger years she loved going dancing. She treasured times spent with her family and friends, and became especially close to her neighbors and enjoyed visiting with them as well. Elaine loved the holidays and looked forward to spending those days with her family, because it brought them closer together. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Rhodes Chataignier and her husband, Clay, of St. Martinville; two special women whom she thought of as daughters, Cherie Gaspard Hantz and Belinda Vidrine Roberts, both of Lake Charles; two brothers, Harry McCauley and Dr. Huey McCauley and his wife, Lee Anna, all of Lafayette; and four grandchildren whom she adored, Brittany Chataignier of Riverside, CA, Kimber Chataignier, Cort Chataignier, and Clay Belaire, all of St. Martinville. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Gaspard; her parents, Lanzey and Lula Deshotels McCauley; a son, Lawrence Bryan Miller; one brother, Helin McCauley; and her sister, Priscilla M. Vidrine. Pallbearers will be Belinda Roberts, Cherie Hantz, Clay Belaire, Daniel McCauley, Shawn McCauley, and Gregory Vidrine. Honorary pallbearer will be Cort Chataignier.
