Elaine B. Gerard

New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 31, 2024, for Elaine B. Gerard, 78, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. 

Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Deacon Josh LeBlanc will be the Officiant. 

Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday. 

Elaine Boutte Gerard, a beloved matriarch, was born in St. Martin Parish on December 12, 1945, to the late Noah Sr. and Odile Picard Boutte. Her life was a tapestry woven with love, family, and cherished memories.

A spirited traveler, Elaine relished the experiences gained during family vacations, where laughter echoed and bonds were strengthened. Her adventurous spirit was evident as she traveled accompanied by her loved ones, creating lasting memories that would be cherished for generations.

Elaine had a unique relationship with flowers; while she adored their beauty, she preferred not to plant them herself. Instead, she would lovingly get her husband, Andrew, into planting and tending to the flower garden, ensuring that their home was always enveloped in vibrant colors and sweet fragrances. 

Above all, Elaine found her greatest joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their laughter was music to her ears, and their accomplishments brought her immense pride. She embraced her role as a grandmother with open arms, showering them with affection and wisdom that will forever be remembered. 

Mrs. Gerard is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Andrew Gerard, Sr.; son, Andrew Gerard, Jr. (Leslie); daughter, Delta Gerard; siblings, Allen Boutte (Debra), Noah Boutte, Jr. (Vicki), and Lucy Creighton; grandchildren, April Bethel and Erin Gerard; and great-grandchildren, Elise Gaspard, Charlotte and Cooper Mhire, and Kolson Gerard. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Charles Gerard; grandson, Carter Gerard; and siblings, Rosa Porier, Lena Gerard, Joseph Boutte, and Elton Boutte. 

Pallbearers will be Chad Boutte, Allen Boutte, Andrew Gerard, Jr., Gary Landry, April Bethel, and Erin Gerard. 

Though Elaine has left this world, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her. May she rest in peace.
